National Participation - Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)

Participatory experience Juvenal Ravelo is the name of the kinetic work that will decorate the three rooms of the Venezuelan pavilion in the Italian city, as announced by the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegas, in the company of the kinetic artist himself.

As happened before with Jesús Soto, Alejandro Otero or Francisco Narváez in Venice, Ravelo will replicate his “participatory art” initiative. And, without intending to, it will also be an immersive experience,” said Villegas.

He explained that a wall of the Venezuelan pavilion will be available to the public, “so that people can paint it. This was an initiative that occurred to me in the 70s, when I returned from France. I thought that poor people, from the neighborhoods, don't go to museums or like to see exhibitions. But she is willing to paint, to participate. On that occasion, they told me that I was crazy for having come from Paris to work on the streets of a neighborhood. Time showed me that you don't have to be afraid to do things. And he wasn't wrong either,” said Ravelo.
