Georgian (original poem):

ჩემი სამყარო სიზმარივითაა,

რომელიც გაღვიძებისთანავე ფერმკრთალდება.

აქ აკვარელი ქსოვილის ძაფებს ერწყმის,

მკვეთრი კიდეებისა და საზღვრების გარეშე.

მხოლოდ გამჭვირვალე ლაქები რჩება, ნისლივით

გაფანტული,

თითქოს სულს არ სურს სხეულის დატოვება.

ეს ფორმები ბუნების სუნთქვასავით უბრალოა —

მსუბუქი კვალი ტილოს ფაქტურაზე,

ამბავი შუქზე, ჩრდილსა და იმაზე, რაც მათ მიღმაა.

ეს არ არის დასასრული,

არამედ ხილვა იმისა, თუ როგორაა ყველაფერი

ერთმანეთთან დაკავშირებული.

აქ მხოლოდ სიმშვიდეა —

ისეთი, ნესტიან, ნისლიან ველზე რომ დაისადგურებს ხოლმე,

იქ, სადაც ხილული და უხილავი სამყაროები იკვეთება

და ყველაფერი ერთი დიდ მდინარებასავით მიედინება

English (translation of the original Georgian poem):

My world is dream-shaped,

paling at the instant of waking.

Here, watercolor blends with the threads of the fabric,

no sharp edge, no boundaries.

Only transparent stains remain, drifting like mist,

as though the soul were reluctant to loosen from the body.

These forms are as simple as the breath of nature,

a light trace on the texture of the canvas,

a quiet telling of light, shadow and of all that waits beyond them.

This is not an end,

but a glimpse of how everything is connected.

Here, there is only stillness

the kind that settles over a damp, misty field,

where the visible and the unseen cross paths,

and everything flows like one immense river.


Tornike Robakidze (b. 1995, Tbilisi, Georgia) lives and works between Tbilisi and Paris. He studied architecture at the Georgian Technical University in Tbilisi from 2013 to 2017, before completing his Master studies at the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi in 2019.

Robakidze’s recent solo exhibitions include: My voice suspended in the air, Lo Brutto Stahl, Paris (2023); Sometimes Paradise is a Sad Story, Gallery 4710, Tbilisi (2021).
