Syncope

Press release
Syncope unfolds as a rhythmic and spatial experience attentive to instants of suspension, hesitation, and subtle shifts. The exhibition invites visitors to dwell in the moments just before or just after perceptible changes in rhythm, movement, or emphasis.
The opening also marks the launch of the accompanying publication DUO and DUEL, Nieves (2026) and kindly supported by Stadt Zürich Kultur, as well as LES INNOCENTS, a zine by Lemon Press (2026), extending the rhythm of Syncope beyond the exhibition space.
“Syncope” refers not only to a musical phenomenon—the displacement of a beat—but here becomes a metaphor for omission, interruption, and fragile transitions. Like a body that briefly loses consciousness, or a memory that begins to dissolve, syncope opens an intermediate space: a moment of in-betweenness that makes room for something new.
The exhibition follows this rhythm of rupture, understood not only as interruption but also as opportunity. In a time of increasing acceleration, the unspoken and the interrupted begin to take form—an invitation to question the familiar and to discover new perspectives. Each work—whether drawing, painting, sculpture, or sound—poses a shared question: What happens when the flow reinvents its rhythm? When memory transforms? When perception takes new paths?
Across four rooms, a journey of silence and metamorphosis unfolds.
Visitors do not simply enter an exhibition, but a state: groping, listening, open to the unpredictable.
