Press release
Presented at Cannes and co-produced by the Palais de Tokyo, the film La Sentinelle will be projected this autumn alongside a new installation work, in an exhibition that offers an immersion in the effects of war on individuals and on their imaginaries. La Sentinelle follows a French soldier, Lafleur, over the course of France's national holiday, as the weight of his military duty silently weighs down upon him. The new film by French-Lebanese artist Ali Cherri stages the vestiges of a bygone era, fixed in a décor in which words resonate like empty echoes. Between nocturnal escapades and fleeting encounters, in particular with a cabaret performer, Lafleur wanders between dream and reality. This night suspended between destiny and self-abandon will be screened in a new exhibition format for the Palais de Tokyo. Curator: Hugo Vitrani, assisted by Inès Fodil
