Opening Wednesday 2 September 6-8:30 pm This exhibition continues the artist’s investigations into how systems of power are first encountered and rehearsed in miniature scale through the apparently innocent worlds of childhood play and fantasy. Drawing from her time as a resident at Delfina Foundation, Ferrero translates decorative elements from London's architectures of security (gates, railings, gardens and enclosures) into oversized padlocks in the style of iconic toys like Polly Pocket and Little Tikes. These works – somewhere in between collectible objects and security devices - reflect on how ideas of access, ownership, and authority are learned through play while being embedded within the architectural details that shape our experience of the city. Andrea Ferrero (Lima, 1991) explores how architectures of power shape the way we imagine, understand and move through the world. Weaving political history with personal memory, she creates immersive installations, playscapes, and edible banquets that invite desire, gluttony, mischief, and trespass. Extending recent investigations into the logics of power and ownership, this project turns to childhood play and fantasy as sites where discipline, control and social norms are first encountered and rehearsed through miniature architectures such as Little Tikes castles, dollhouses and Polly Pocket worlds. Thinking of architectural ornament as a political language, the work borrows decorative fragments from London's gates, railings, gardens and other mechanisms of enclosure, translating them into the soft visual vocabulary of mass-produced fantasy toys. Somewhere between collectible keepsakes and security devices, the oversized padlocks explore how authority is encountered not only through monumental architecture, but also through the city's smaller thresholds, ornamental details and everyday mechanisms of access that choreograph how we navigate public space. Ferrero holds a BFA in Sculpture from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Lima), was a participant in the SOMA Academic Program (Mexico City 2019–2021), and received the 2025 Virginia A. Groot Foundation Award. Her work has been presented at institutions internationally, including at: Museo Tamayo (Mexico City); Malta Biennale (Valletta); Taoyuan Art Prize (Taiwan); Museo Jumex (Mexico City); Kunstraum Niederoesterreich (Vienna, upcoming); Una Boccata d’Arte (Piedmont, upcoming). Recent solo exhibitions include: Galería Gato (Lima); Chez Plinio (Milan), PALMA Galería (Guadalajara), Swivel Gallery (New York), Gallery Shilla (Seoul), and Ginsberg Galería (Lima). Ferrero has participated in artist residencies at Pivô arte e pesquisa (São Paulo), HANGAR Centro de Investigação Artística (Lisbon), Fountainhead Arts (Miami), MASS MoCA (Massachusetts), and FLORA ars+natura (Bogotá). She is currently a resident at the Delfina Foundation in London.
