Peres Projects is pleased to announce the upcoming solo exhibition of Yoo Jung Ellie Choi. Born in Busan, South Korea, in 1994, Choi crafts evocative domestic spaces imbued with a quiet introspection. Her meticulous brushwork and smooth surfaces enhance the ethereal, otherworldly atmosphere of her compositions, where doors, windows, and stairs act as thresholds between the real and the surreal.

Choi’s protagonists, absorbed in solitude and often gazing out of windows or at digital devices, remain enigmatic, their faces hidden from view. Architectural openings transform into portals of emotional and psychological depth, guiding the viewer into intricate pathways of perspective and interiority. Each work offers a room of one’s own, where the boundaries of physical space dissolve into reflections of inner worlds.

This exhibition continues Choi’s exploration of spatiality, perspective, and the intimacy of modern interiors, showcasing her ability to turn the domestic into the transcendent.
