Carsten Focks künstlerische Arbeit bewegt sich im Spannungsfeld von Landschaft, Malereigeschichte und deutsch-deutscher Nachkriegsgeschichte. Landschaft ist für den in Bamberg und Vejby, Dänemark, lebenden Künstler kein neutrales Motiv, sondern historisch und kunstgeschichtlich aufgeladen; in Malerei, Zeichnung, Installation befragt er kritisch das kulturelle Gedächtnis, das bis in die Gegenwart fortwirkt. In der Ausstellung »Fault Lines« untersucht er, inwiefern aktuelle gesellschaftliche Umbrüche wie Rechtsruck, soziale Spaltung und Polarisierung öffentlicher Diskurse sich in ästhetischen Formen abbilden lassen und welche Verantwortung Malerei in Zeiten politischer Verunsicherung zukommt. Er macht Stimmungen, Brüche und Spannungen in seinen Bildern sichtbar – in Landschaft, Architektur und Figur. Die Ausstellung wird kuratiert von Nina Holm Carsten Fock’s artistic work moves within the field of tension between landscape, the history of painting, and the postwar history of a divided Germany. For the artist, who lives in Bamberg and in Vejby, Denmark, landscape is not a neutral motif but one charged with historical and art-historical meaning; in painting, drawing, and installation, he critically interrogates cultural memory and its persistence into the present. In the exhibition „Fault Lines,“ he examines how current social upheavals – the shift to the right, social division, and the polarization of public discourse – manifest themselves in aesthetic forms, and what responsibility painting bears in times of political uncertainty. In his paintings, he renders moods, ruptures, and tensions visible – across landscape, architecture, and the figure. The exhibition is curated by Nina Holm
