Press release
Skoufa Gallery happily presents Christina Brebou’s first solo exhibition, titled “Super Paradise” which opens on Thursday 15th October 2026 at 19:30 and will run until the 7th November 2026. For the exhibition ‘Super Paradise’, Christina attempts a kind of painting that does not derive from a need to render an identifiable image, but from a wish to explore what happens during the creative process. Color, movement and matter have a leading role in her work, whereas the image evolves gradually, through an interplay between control and the unpredictable. With a strong element of ‘flow’, the painter’s creative process is not linear, but based on layering and the acceptance of the element of chance. A personal artistic language is therefore formed, where the gesture co-exists with structure and the random with the intentional. For the artist, the gesture is a direct, physical recording of energy and the inner world, introducing the organic element and the authentic human imprint into a work of art. On her paintings’ surfaces, the different materials interact and leave marks, tracks and layers that either compose or de-construct an image. The viewer stands in front of open and radiant artworks, which do not reveal themselves instantly, but rather stimulate memory, feeling and imagination. Within this framework, ‘Super Paradise’ becomes a place of freedom, intensity, movement and color. Short biographical note Christina Brebou studied Illustration & Fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Florence and in New York. Between 2014 and 2020, she studied with the ‘Simeio’ art group and her painting tutor was George Rorris. Her work has been shown at many group exhibitions and at Art Athina. She was born in Athens, where she still lives and works. ‘Super Paradise’ is her first solo exhibition at Skoufa gallery.
