Exhibition ''Let's work on what we have'' at Gregor Podnar brings together early works from the 1980s and 1990s alongside a group of pieces that have not been shown before. Placed together, the works trace a practice built on consistency and daily attention — drawings made across four decades in very different circumstances. What looks spontaneous is in fact the result of an extensive working process, moving through notebooks and hundreds of drawings. A site-specific wall drawing, made during the installation of the show, is also part of the exhibition. Dan Perjovschi's practice has moved fluidly from painterly compositions and performative practises to sharply graphic interventions, wall drawings, and notebook entries. The current exhibition manages to create a condensed overview of an artistic language that continuously shifts in form while remaining grounded in close observation of social and political realities. Seen together, the works reveal how recurring themes like power, fragility, conflict, intimacy and public life, continue to resonate within the urgencies of the current political climate. Perjovschi was born in 1961 in Sibiu, Romania. He studied painting at the George Enescu University of the Arts in Iași and has exhibited at MoMA, New York; Tate Modern, London; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; at the Venice Biennale in 1999 and 2007, and in 2020 at Documenta 15. Perjovschi has worked with Gregor Podnar since 2004. He lives and works in Sibiu.
