GEORG NORDMARK: BETWEEN HAND & MOUTH 25 April – 24 May 2026 Stockholm, Hospitalet Carl Kostyál is delighted to present 'Between Hand & Mouth' the third solo exhibition of Georg Nordmark (b. 1994, Gothenburg, Sweden) with the gallery and the artist's first solo exhibition at Hospitalet in Stockholm. Nordmark first exhibited with the gallery at Art Cologne, Germany (2022) followed by a duo presentation with Harrison Pearce at Chart Art Fair, Copenhagen (2023). Nordmark most recently exhibited with the gallery at MARKET ART Fair in the group exhibition, 'For Pete's Sake 2.0' (2025). Nordmark has also featured in several curated group exhibitions at Hospitalet, Stockholm, including Gullringsbo Konstsamling, Vol. 1 (2022), Vol. 2 (2023) and Vol. 3 (2025). Georg Nordmark's practice centres on the construction and adaptation of objects derived from tools used in the handling of animals. His sculptural works draw directly from these utilitarian forms, reconfiguring them to examine the systems through which human control is exercised over non-human behaviour. Central to his practice is the repurposing of equipment used in animal training and husbandry — items such as harnesses, leads, gates, and enclosures — which Nordmark transforms into sculptural configurations that investigate domestication as both a physical and ideological condition. These objects, stripped of their original context, become ambiguous forms that resist straightforward interpretation. Their functional histories remain legible, but are displaced into an aesthetic register that opens them to broader readings about control, confinement, and the relationship between bodies and the systems designed to manage them. The works draw attention to how environments are engineered to manage behaviour within confined, artificial conditions. Through this lens, Nordmark's practice reflects on broader questions of domestication, agency, and the design of spaces that regulate both animal and human activity.
