Giorgio Griffa: 90
Artists
Giorgio Griffa
Press release
In collaboration with Fondazione Giorgio Griffa, Torino “I don’t represent anything, I paint” is the artist’s significant comment about his work. Giorgio Griffa (Turin, Italy, 1936) has distinguished himself since the late 1960s with a radical pictorial language, reduced to its essential components: canvas, color, and line. On the occasion of the artist’s 90th birthday, Castello di Rivoli is dedicating a homage to Griffa, presenting a display with works spanning from the 1970s to the present, testifying to his long, prolific, and uninterrupted artistic research. At the initiative of the CRRI – Castello di Rivoli Research Center, the selection will also feature documentary materials, as well as some of his painting tools from the artist’s studio. Giorgio Griffa: 90 is developed thanks to the collaboration with the Giorgio Griffa Foundation, Turin.
