Curated by Lóránd Hegyi
The Weber & Weber Gallery presents Disturbing Transfigurations, a new exhibition curated by Lóránd Hegyi. This collection brings together diverse artistic proposals dedicated to the enigmatic metamorphoses of the body, treated as both a central subject and a territory for inquiry.
The works on display invite the public to enter a realm of improbability and uncertainty—a mirror of the tensions and ambiguities that characterize the contemporary world. Although permeated by darkness, enigmas, and irrational appearances, these visual narratives reveal a deep archetypal dimension capable of evoking fundamental anthropological constellations.
Reinventing Tradition: One portion of the exhibited works focuses on revisiting formal, linguistic, and compositional models from previous cultural eras. Through subversive reinterpretations and unexpected combinations, the artists construct an eclectic and referential imagery where new forms engage with traditional configurations. This critical approach challenges the validity of inherited metaphorical messages, paving the way for a radical reinvention of archetypal narratives.
The Subconscious and the Interior: A second core of works gives shape to unsettling, destabilizing psychic and pathological narratives that manifest the presence of dark, subconscious forces. These pieces reveal complex interweavings, unpredictable associations, and a vibrant sense of disorientation, reflecting vital processes of awareness and self-interrogation emerging from the depths of inner experience.
Produced in collaboration with the Aragno Humanities Forum of Cuneo, the exhibition offers a panoramic view of aesthetic statements reflecting a world in constant, ephemeral, and transitory flux. The intimacy and profound interiority revealed in these artworks open possible paths toward the intuitively perceivable realities of our human universe.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue published by Nino Aragno Editore.
