The Saturated of Life exhibition by Kateryna Aliinyk marks a new chapter in the artist's practice and is her first individual show in Poland. Working mainly with the themes of war, occupation of Ukraine, and the consequences of aggression as seen in nature and beloved landscapes, she touches upon the subject of violence, but also strength and beauty. The artist's most recent works emerge from paying close attention to her surroundings, the land beneath her feet and sky above her head, where birds and insects cross paths with rockets and missiles flying at supersonic speed. Increasingly drawn to the natural order of things, she ponders the beauty of life as much as one's capacity for cruelty. At the same time, Kateryna Aliinyk's paintings are charged with the intensity of life in its many forms. Her joy of life and reverence toward the strength of nature persist not despite the surrounding devastation and destruction, but in defiance of it. Kateryna Aliinyk (b. 1998 in Lugansk, Ukraine) Focused on painting, Kateryna Aliinyk also works with text, creates objects and installaitions. She is one of the most interesting voices on the contemporary Ukrainian art scene. The main topics of her art are war and the occupation of Ukraine as well as their consequences depicted through imagery, metaphors of nature, and non-anthropocentric optics. In her most recent practice, she has become increasingly drawn to exploring the philosophical context of the cycle of life and humanity's relationship with nature. Aliinyk's works have been exhibited worldwide, including Ukraine, Poland, Ireland, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Italy, UK, Switzerland and Romania. In 2024 and 2026 she was invited to participate in group exhibitions organised by PinchukArtCentre, which accompanied the International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia, Italy: From Ukraine: Dare to Dream (2024), Still Joy – From Ukraine Into the World (2026). In June 2025 she was awarded the First Special Prize at the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2025 for the Blades of Grass with Blades of Steel project. A graduate in painting of the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Kyiv (2021), she has also completed contemporary art courses at the KAMA Kyiv Academy of Media Arts and at the Method Fund (both in 2020). Artist-in-residence at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (2022). She lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine.
