(Re)visit

Artists

Maria Eichhorn

Press release

Galleri Susanne Ottesen presents ‘(Re)visit’, Chapter Two of ‘Manuals’, an experimental exhibition programme reflecting on the gallery’s role amid profound shifts in the way that art is circulated, mediated, and displayed.

‘(Re)visit’ enacts in its entirety Maria Eichhorn’s 1995 exhibition at Galleri Susanne Ottesen, repeating her precise staging of three works by central figures of the Fluxus movement: Chair Events, 1969, by George Brecht / 33 1/3, 1969, by John Cage / Flux Ping-Pong, 1969, by George Maciunas.

Eichhorn’s exhibition poses fundamental questions about artistic authorship, audience participation, and the gallery as an active framework through which art is made and experienced. By reproducing works from the René Block Collection, Eichhorn also addresses questions of public display and censorship, raised during the collection’s inaugural presentation at Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen (1992).

This new iteration underscores the relevance of the socio-political concerns that motivated Fluxus, whilst highlighting the specific conditions of exhibition-making in 2026. Revisiting Eichhorn’s conceptual methodology, three contemporary artists will activate the exhibition from Saturday 21 February through its close on 7 March. Employing some of the score- or performance-based strategies associated with Fluxus, their interventions anchor the show alongside artistic practices active within the city today.

The programme will be accompanied by a day of short talks by artists and industry figures, which collectively asks, “What does a gallery mean for you?”. The Speakers’ Corner will take place on Saturday 21 February, open to the public 11am-4pm.

‘(Re)visit’ follows on from ‘Manuals’ by Fatima Moallim (2025), the first in an ongoing programme of exhibitions at Galleri Susanne Ottesen that address the gallery’s role in the context of tumultuous change for the industry, both locally and worldwide.
