Press release
Galerie Peter Kilchmann, in collaboration with Sommer Contemporary Art, is pleased to present Quel che rimane del cielo, a new exhibition of works by Marion Baruch (b. 1929, Timișoara, Romania), an artist whose poetic interventions on fabric have defined her unique voice in contemporary art. For this presentation, the gallery will exclusively show Baruch's cut-out works made from remnants of clothing fabrics — fragments of material that once belonged to garments but have been transformed into delicate, evocative compositions. By pinning, suspending, or layering these remnants, Baruch engages with memory, absence, and materiality, turning what might have been discarded into objects of unexpected beauty. The exhibition title, Quel che rimane del cielo — "What Remains of the Sky" — evokes both the celestial and the human, the traces of life and creation captured in fragile textiles. The pieces allow viewers to experience the interplay of negative space and form, the tension between gravity and lightness, and the poetic resonance of everyday materials.
