Flags for Zephyrus is an installation consisting of fifteen banners positioned along the east façade of the Lingotto that playfully interacts with the building’s architecture, merging form, color, and landscape. Using a language that combines geometric abstraction, vivid colors, and rare figurative elements, Nathalie Du Pasquier inserts herself into the space of La Pista 500, bringing it to life through the very architectural and natural elements that define it: on one hand, the regular rhythm of the Lingotto building against which the flags wave; on the other, the west wind represented by the Greek god Zephyrus who, with a poetic and ironic spirit, contributes to the essence of the work. Aligned and equidistant, the flags, in their grandeur, evoke those hung at the headquarters of international organizations with the aim of communicating diversity and alliance. In this case, the artist moves away from the nationalistic and power-related implications that flags can represent and uses art as a tool for openness and dialogue.
