Through Golgotha to Resurrection
Artists
Predrag Djaković
Press release
His painting emerges from a deep inner testimony to Europe's historical traumas, yet translates them into a language that transcends national and political boundaries. At the 61st Biennale, he presents a cycle of works that examine the relationship between history and identity, raising the question of how an individual survives under the weight of the past and ideology. The project interrogates European history, identity, and ideology through 320 square metres of paintings and installations, including 14,600 pieces of archival material. The project will feature original archival materials and photographs and will be co-produced by the Archives of Vojvodina. The work explores how wounds "can become a space of transformation." Commissioner: Ivan Milošević (Acting Director, Belgrade City Museum). Curator: Tomáš Koudela.
