Rien ne nous y préparait – Tout nous y préparait
Artists
Wolfgang Tillmans
Press release
To round off the programme in the building, which will be closed for 5 years for renovation work, German artist Wolfgang Tillmans (born in 1968 in Remscheid, Germany) has been given carte blanche to take over the 6,000 m2 of level 2 of the Bibliothèque publique d'information (Bpi). The aim is to explore the library as architecture and as a place for the transmission of knowledge, in the light of his own photographic work: an aesthetic universe born of the spirit of the counter-culture of the early 1990s, which explores the profound transformation of the media and information supports of our time, proposing new ways of making images, in search of a new humanism and alternative ways of living together.
