The Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center cordially invites you and your friends to the opening of its upcoming exhibition. A face, a movement, a fleeing figure, a ruined street, or an unexpectedly cheerful gesture? Robert Capa's photographs are built precisely from these intense, fleeting moments. What the camera once froze in time is now set in motion again through the rhythm of the screening, while history's defining moments and the most personal layers of human memory become newly tangible within this pulse. A Glimpse of History is the Capa Center's temporary screening, presenting a selection from the multifaceted Robert Capa collection of 1,000 works purchased by the Hungarian state in 2008. While the permanent exhibition is being renovated, the images will be displayed as a multi-channel video installation. Robert Capa's images guide us through wars, journeys, cities, front lines, and everyday scenes. Alongside major historical events, the human figure appears again and again: the soldier waiting; the child crossing the road; the passer-by continuing everyday life in a city of ruins; and the photographer who, for a moment, steps outside his own myth. These photographs are more than historical documents. They hold Capa's attention, the past preserved by the camera, and the viewer's experience that connects the images to the present. In Capa's oeuvre, history does not appear as a closed event; it becomes newly experienceable through the faces he captured and the small details within the photographs. The screening is a transitional presentation of the Hungarian Capa collection, revealing the rhythm, detours, repetitions, and unexpected silences of an entire oeuvre. Although this is a temporary form, it offers an important occasion: while the permanent exhibition is being renewed, visitors can continue to encounter Capa's images and the vision that made the history of the twentieth century visible through human closeness.
