The fragmentation is ultimately an illusion. It is a deception, a mirage that manifests through melancholy and euphoria when life falls apart and shatters. Sometimes the things of daily life - a moonrise, a simple meal, an unyielding complaint, folding freshly washed laundry - become a ritualized act through which we perceive the sublime. Recognizing these tiny fleeting shards is everything; it is perfection. _Shored Against My Ruins_ showcases works by seven artists who engage with open ends, the inscrutable, and the untidy. Their works are closely tied to the process of dissolution. With a particular reference to the physical and psychological archive, the artists grapple with the idea of reassembling. Their works consist of personal and collective objects, memories, and autobiographical experiences that remind us to pay close attention to what we accumulate throughout our own endless reconstruction process.
