Som Supaparinya
Press release
Explore the boundary between the natural and the human-made through the lens of Thai video artist Som Supaparinya (b. 1973). For the first time in Scandinavia, Kunsthal Charlottenborg presents her thought-provoking works, investigating industrial activity.
Som Supaparinya blends documentary and experimental approaches to explore political, social, and personal themes, investigating how human activity shapes both people and landscapes.
Through depictions of changing rivers, urban spaces, transport networks, and energy production, Supaparinya questions the boundary between the natural and the human-made, and the line between reality and imagination.
Her most recent projects examine, in particular, the social and environmental impact of industrial activity in Thailand, offering a profound reflection on the interconnectedness of society, industry, and the natural world.
