From May to July, the foundation presents a classic example of video art from the Julia Stoschek Collection as a summer special.

Steina Vasulka’s Violin Power (1970-1978) puts into play the sonic, aesthetic, and technological relationships between music-making and the electronic image. Here, Vasulka—a classically trained violinist—utilizes a ZETA electric violin to manipulate video sequences, transforming the musical instrument into an image generating apparatus. The bowing and vibrations of the violin summon sculptural patterns and abstract motifs that capture the zeitgeist and ambition of experimental sound production in the 1970s.
