Vivien Szaka

Press release

Vivien Szaka’s first solo exhibition consists of a geometric system of static straight lines and dynamic curves, where proportions and directions create a sense of harmony in motion. The frontal view of these abstract forms and shapes, open to free interpretation, is rounded and quietly symmetrical; yet, as we follow the lines, a kind of spiral arrangement unfolds before us, taking on a different form from every angle. This rhythmic, frequency-based variation can be perceived in both time and space, but the sculptures’ pristine white surfaces allow for even more distant metaphors. Concave and convex forms complement each other; the interplay of positive and negative space creates polarities, where the dualism of front and back, bottom and top, forms a whole, just as the two sides of symmetry do. Szaka’s works—ranging from small bronze sculptures to plaster reliefs—are formal musings that arrive at the conclusion that every sight is a particular view of the same thing. The exhibition’s title, Idem, which in Latin means “the same,” refers to this pantheistic way of thinking. Curated by Tímea Fülöp The exhibition can be visited between June 11 and June 26, 2026.
